Prospect Park completed a weekend of back to back victories that totally dispelled any of the media speculation that suggested the Parks poor start to the season was due to the skippers tactical naivety and team selection. A jubilant Sven Goran Fowdy saw his team romp to victory and complete a weekend in which he did not bat, bowl or take a catch but captained with massive authority(No3 next week please Darran). Old Elthamians elected to bat first and with the Partridge brothers opening the bowling, Dave soon had one of the openers caught at extra cover by Thompson. The dangerous and talented No3 bat looked in no trouble until Craig hurried him into a pull shot that looped up to `Two Shaves` Pritchard at square leg. The change bowlers were Thompson and Russell who were soon amongst the wickets as the tail failed to wag. At this stage Pritchard was brought on and bowled very tidily after a break of nearly a year. Thompson again wrapped up the innings with a wonderful full toss that the batsman missed and Old Elthamians were all out for 110.
The Park opened their innings with Dave Hearn and Dave Fletcher. Fletcher, after his previous days performance had spent the morning eating raw meat and high strength Viagra and batted with an authority that belied his youthful 27 years. Indeed, scoring at 5 per over the two openers matched each other stroke for stroke to cruise the Park to victory with both of them scoring unbeaten 50`s,Hearns 54 not out being punishingly effective at times.
