Griffiths & Fletcher Lead the Way

vs Petts Wood Tudor (H - Friendly) - Saturday 19th July

Opening batsmen Roger Griffiths and David Fletcher set up a comprehensive win against a weakened Petts Wood Tudor side with a massive opening partnership of 178. Roger hit right into form with a domineering century of 104, whilst Fletch hit an imperious 59. Roger was eventually bowled by Chapman and Fletch was also bowled by talented youngster Chris Downer. Simon Ewin came in in the unusual scenario of not having to bail out the PPCC batting and made a solid 25 not out whilst Kenny Robotham had the un-enviable task of batting for 9 balls at the end for his 0 not out. Park finishing an impressive 214 for 2, off 40 overs.

Paul Moss and Bill Partridge opened the Park bowling and picked up a wicket each. Paul taking a good caught and bowled (after looking round for someone else to catch it), and Bill clean bowling M. Lockett. At 29 for 2, Tim Gannon and Craig Partridge were in to the attack, with Gannon soon bowling Webb. When Barnes went caught & bowled Gannon, PWT were struggling at 48 for 4. When David Fletcher came into the attack the end was soon nigh for Petts Wood as he immediately had Mercer and Humphries caught. With Gannon having both Chapmans caught by Bill Partridge & Roger Griffiths it was down to Fletch to seal the win when Chris Downer struck aggresively into mid on only to see Simon Ewin dive spectacularly to end the game with a flying catch. Park winning by bowling Petts Wood Tudor out for 77.

Man Of The Match

A professional performance here from the Park with outstanding displays from Dave Fletcher (50 & 3 wickets), Gannon (4 wickets & 2 catches), but the MOM has to go to Roger Griffiths for a sublime century and exemplorary performance in the field.
